Real Madrid Selects Alonso Over Ancelotti as Their Choice

According to Radio Marca (via Sky Sports), Real Madrid have identified Xabi Alonso as the man they want as their next head coach as Carlo Ancelotti’s departure moves closer every day.

Meanwhile, Alonso was previously linked with Tottenham Hotspur before Ange Postecoglou’s appointment at the North London club. However, then he categorically stated that he was loyal to Bayer Leverkusen and was satisfied with his work in Germany, with which he has a contract until the summer of 2026. His team currently ranks second in the Bundesliga table, behind defending champions Bayern Munich. Munich only on goal difference.

Alonso spent five years at Real Madrid as a player, playing 236 games in the famous white shirt, winning one La Liga title, two Copa del Rey trophies, one Spanish Super Cup, one Champions League trophy and one UEFA Super Cup. He also worked as a youth coach at the club for a year.
