MLS News: MLS: Nani scores as Orlando City equalized, New York City lead by two goals

Former Manchester United winger Nani scored his ninth MLS goal of the season as Orlando City missed a chance to close the gap at the top after a 1-1 draw in Cincinnati on Saturday.

Cincinnati, who have not won in their last seven incoming games, opened the scoring in the 42nd minute of Brazilian striker Brenner.

Nani equalized moments after being brought into the game as a substitute in the 55th minute, advancing and firing in a low and precise left-footed shot.

The result meant consecutive draws for Orlando, second in the Eastern Conference, seven points behind leaders New England.

Third-placed New York City lost a two-goal lead and drew 2-2 away to Toronto.

Santiago Rodriguez and Ismael Tajouri had led City 2-0 in 21 minutes, but Toronto scored twice in the second half.

Richie Laryea pulled one back in the 49th minute before reigning MVP Alejandro Pozuela equalized in the 55th minute with a touch.

The Portland Timbers beat Real Salt Lake 3-2 in a seesaw contest with Felipe Mora scoring the overall winner.

Columbus Crew suffered their third straight defeat when Ezequiel Barco scored twice for Atlanta City in a 3-2 win.

Dallas continued his good run of recent form, claiming his third win in four games, with a 2-0 triumph over Austin.

Minnesota United won 2-0 over Houston Dynamo, while Colorado Rapids drew 0-0 against Western Conference leaders Sporting KC.
