The English Premier League Referees Committee issued an official statement apologizing to the Liverpool team after their match against Tottenham (1-2) on Saturday night in the seventh round of the Premier League competition.

The English Premier League’s refereeing committee has apologized for the referee’s decision to disallow Liverpool’s Colombian striker Luis Diaz’s goal against Tottenham after a superb pass from fellow Egyptian star Mohamed Salah was ruled out for offside.

The refereeing committee said in a statement issued at dawn on Sunday: “We accept that human error occurred during the Liverpool v Tottenham match in the first half.”

The committee continued in a statement: “Diaz’s goal was disallowed for offside, but it was clearly a poor decision and deserved to be chalked as a goal with VAR intervention.”

The committee concluded its statement regarding this incident: “We will conduct a full assessment of the reasons that led to this error.”

Liverpool lost to hosts Tottenham Hotspur (1-2) in the final half of their clash on Saturday night, marking the Reds finishing with nine men.
