Juventus Holds On for Draw Against Bologna Despite Milik’s Late Shot

Juventus missed the opportunity to finish second in Serie A as they drew 1-1 away to Bologna on Sunday.

Runners-up Lazio were beaten 3-1 by Inter earlier in the day, however Riccardo Orsolini scored a first-half penalty from Renato Dall’Ara, leaving Juventus to fear a fourth consecutive league defeat.

Those fears were not allayed when Arkadiusz Milik missed a penalty equalizer, but he fired brilliantly after the break, depriving Bologna of their first Serie A victory over the Bianconeri in 22 attempts.

Juve remain below Lazio and, crucially, only three points ahead of Inter, Milan and Roma in fourth, fifth and sixth places, and they will have a real fight in the last six games if they want to finish in the Champions League.

The hosts were ahead just 10 minutes later, a long VAR check showed Danilo knocking down Orsolini before the winger got off the pitch and shot a penalty into the bottom right corner.

Lukas Skorupski kept the lead of his team thanks to a sensational brace from Nicolò Fagioli and the goalkeeper was successful again soon after.

The referee originally awarded a free kick after John Lucumi shoved Milik, but VAR found that the foul had taken place in Bologna’s penalty area. However, Skorupski was not fooled by the striker’s jump-and-jump penalty technique and easily moved to his right to save.

Milik, however, was more ruthless in the second half, rebounding from his botched penalty and landing a brilliant opening first shot into the bottom corner to equalize.

In the final stage, both sides had great chances, but neither side could find a winner as Juve had at least broken their losing streak.
