According to the official statement of the Catalan club, Barcelona first team midfielder Xavi, after undergoing a medical examination, received a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee.
The statement added: Xavi has another injury to his lateral meniscus and will undergo surgery in the next few days.
It is noteworthy that Xavi’s injury will take around eight months off the field, and the team’s technical director Xavi Hernandez must find a suitable replacement for the young player.
