West Ham remains determined to secure Maguire

According to Sky Sports, West Ham are still trying to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United despite the player himself pulling out this summer.

Maguire was stripped of his captaincy at United this summer and the prospect of him ever regaining his place in the club’s starting line-up seems very bleak. And that’s putting it mildly. He made just eight Premier League appearances last season.

West Ham and Manchester United agreed to sign the 30-year-old centre-back and the Hammers were willing to pay up to £30m to secure his services, obviously a huge loss after United paid £80 million for it. signed him from Leicester City in 2019, but Maguire turned down the move to stay and fight for playing time at Old Trafford.

In all competitions, Maguire scored seven goals in 175 appearances for the 20-time English champions. Two years remain until the end of his contract with the club.
