Chelsea beat West Ham 4-0 to climb to the top of the Women’s Super League table.

Niamh Charles, who made her 100th WSL match, gave the Blues the lead in the 13th minute after a Sam Kerr shot was blocked.

The FA Cup winners doubled their lead in the third minute of the second half thanks to Pernilla Harder’s corner kick into the bottom corner.

Chelsea scored another impressive victory in the 65th minute when Magdalena Eriksson was headed off a corner by Irons goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold and Sophie Ingle nodded on the rebound.

In stoppage time, substitute Erin Cuthbert fired a fourth shot, completing another impressive run.

Emma Hayes’ side are two points clear of Wembley runners-up Manchester United on Saturday and are close to what will be their fourth title in a row, which could be confirmed this weekend if all results are in their favour.

Arsenal had previously sealed their third-place finish with a 4-1 win over Everton, where midfielder Leah Walty was injured in the second half after being fouled by Aggie Beaver-Jones who was sent off.

Caitlin Ford, who made her first start since recovering from a hamstring injury, gave the Gunners the lead in the 29th minute when she converted a cross from cornerback Noel Maritz.

Arsenal captain Kathy McCabe doubled the lead with a long-range shot before Australian Foord intercepted a second with a nod on the rebound from a Stina Blackstenius header.

Lotte Wubben-Moy landed her fourth header shortly before half-time from a free-kick by Frida Maanum.
