Vinicius Junior has criticized La Liga bosses for failing to effectively tackle racism after the Real Madrid striker was targeted by Real Valladolid.
Objects were thrown at the Brazilian from the stands after he was substituted late, and shocking footage of verbal abuse surfaced after Friday’s game.
Madrid won 2-0 in their first World Cup match since the World Cup, with Karim Benzema scoring both goals.
Vinicius posted a photo of himself with Benzema shortly after the away victory with the caption: “God bless us!”
Reflecting on the evening’s unfortunate events, Vinicius added on social media Saturday: “Racists keep going to stadiums and watching the biggest club in the world up close and @LaLiga keeps doing nothing…
“I will continue with my head held high and celebrate my victories and the victories of Madrid. After all, it’s MY fault.”
Madrid will play tier four Cacereno in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.
