Moroccan football club Wydad Sports Club has announced the signing of Belgian coach Sven Vandenbroek, who will replace Spaniard Juan Carlos Garrido at the head of the team’s coaching staff.
Garrido’s second era with the Oval lasted only about ten weeks, as he was sacked due to the team’s low level and performance in recent matches.
Vandenbroek is the fourth manager of Vidad El Omma this season after Hassan Amouta, Tunisian Mahdi El Nafti and Garrido, whose contract was terminated immediately after the team’s disappointing 1-1 draw with its guest FAR 1-1 in the Classic Summit Moroccan League Vidad is the defending champion.
Wydad also narrowly reached the semi-finals of the African Champions League, overcoming Tanzanian Simba’s hurdle on penalties.
Wydad wrote on his official Facebook page: “They welcomed our new coach, Sven Vandenbroek”, with a video clip of the Belgian in which he said: “Hello everyone, I have been invited to coach this club many times and finally I am here and proud defending the Wydad jersey.”
