With the domestic leagues only returning from last week’s international hiatus, Europe’s biggest tournament will resume on Tuesday night with the kick-off of the Champions League group stage.

Watching Chelsea shock many from across the continent as they won 1-0 against England counterparts Manchester City in May, teams across Europe will be looking to write their own piece of history this season.

With the likes of Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the main stage this year, we took a look at who the bookmakers have called the pre-tournament favorites.

PSG – 4/1

While PSG may have seen Lille shockingly snatch the Ligue 1 title last season, the French giants enjoyed a summer overhaul that will live on in the transfer window memory books for a long time.

With Mauricio Pochettino receiving tremendous support over the summer, Les Parisiens brought the likes of Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi and, most notably, six-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi to what turned out to be a record window.

With many from across Europe believing PSG have assembled the most stacked squad they have seen in recent times, it’s no surprise that the former Tottenham manager finds his team in the midst of a true purple patch.

Having reached the top of the Ligue 1 standings and have not yet lost a point in any of their first five games since the opening of the 2021/22 season, PSG is already priced at 4/1 with 888sport to claim their first Champions League crown, despite sharing a group with the likes of Manchester City and RB Leipzig.

Manchester City – 9/2

Despite the opening of May’s Champions League final showdown against Chelsea in Portugal as an outstanding choice to lift their first European title, the expectation of the Sky Blues only continues when they have suffered a 1-0 defeat to the their Premier League power mates.

However, despite the start of the 2021/22 season with a slow 1-0 defeat at Tottenham, reigning English champions Pep Guardiola have recovered somewhat and are once again referred to as the first choice. when their Champions League adventure begins against Leipzig on Tuesday night.

With their Spanish manager over a decade since he last won a European title during his days at the Nou Camp, City are now enjoying a streak of three-game Premier League victories, a run that has them also seen getting a 1-0 away win at Leicester at the weekend.

Doing a great job of sharing goals with their team after losing their public research on England skipper Harry Kane over the summer, Guardiola’s team opened their European run mid-week for the price of 9/2 with Betfair to finally capture what has been a long-awaited Champions League crown.

Bayern Munich – 44/5

Crashing from last year’s Champions League to the quarter-finals after being hit by an action-packed defeat at the hands of PSG, Bayern Munich embarked on a new adventure over the summer after bringing in former RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Returning to the top of the Bundesliga standings and aiming for an exceptional pick to make even more home history this season, the German giants garnered perfect momentum over the weekend as Nagelsmann’s star-studded squad took a 4- 1 from his former employers.

Opening of the tournament this year for the price of 44/5 with Unibet to regain the European crown this time, Bayern opened their run with what should be a real mouth-watering affair on Tuesday night away from former European champions Barcelona.

If Bayern want to lift this year’s Champions League, they will call on hot Robert Lewandowski to lead their charge. Finding once again the goal against Leipzig at the weekend, the Polish talisman has so far scored 11 goals for club and country this season and is priced at 5/1 with Betfair to claim the Golden Shoe.
