According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Andrea Pirlo could be Ronald Koeman’s replacement at Barcelona.
Club president Joan Laporta has reportedly delayed the decision to sack Koeman following the 3-0 defeat to Benfica in the Champions League. Alas, that doesn’t mean they’re not looking around, with Pirlo reportedly one of their primary targets.
Given the questionable nature of his time at Juventus as a manager, this definitely looks like a strange decision over Barça and their hunt for a world-class gaffer. Pirlo was a great player, but he just doesn’t seem like the kind of person who will change this ship.
There are every chance it might surprise us, but experience is what Barcelona really need to stabilize the ship and Pirlo’s unpredictability in charge doesn’t seem very wise.
