Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey is wanted in the Premier League, according to Bild, with three clubs currently vying for his services; Leicester City, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Bailey is an extremely versatile striker. Primarily a winger, he is a real threat that descends either on the flank or as a striker through the center. It can even play behind a classic no. 9 if asked to do so. Last season he made 26 goals (15 goals, 11 assists) in 40 appearances in all competitions for Leverkusen. Still only 23 years old, there is obviously time and room for further improvement in a promising career, and the fact that his signing is in high demand comes as no surprise.
With two years remaining on its contract, the Bundesliga squad could choose to sell now rather than see its brand value drop next season unless it signs a new deal.
Aston Villa appears to be the most serious of the clubs listed as interested. Apparently they have already turned down an offer of € 30 million, with Leverkusen holding on for € 45 million.
