Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White will undergo medical examinations before proposed transfer to Arsenal on Wednesday, according to Sky Sports.
The 23-year-old drew the attention of the wider football audience with strong performances on loan with Leeds United in the league in 2019-20 as Marcelo Bielsa’s side headed for further promotion to the Premier League. Leeds were very keen to make the move permanent last year, but Brighton rejected their efforts, rightly judging that the player’s actions would only increase with time.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is thought to be thrilled to add a central defender who can start attacks from the rear, having lost David Luiz’s serves late last season. The deal between the two clubs is set at £ 50m and also includes a redemption clause. Previously, Arsenal had turned down two offers, one for 40 million pounds, the other for 47 million pounds, before finally accepting Brighton’s terms.
