Transfers News: Aston Villa considers Pochettino to be Gerrard’s replacement

Aston Villa is currently considering making a bold attempt to involve Mauricio Pochettino in case they decide to part ways with manager Steven Gerrard, according to The Telegraph.

Villa has invested heavily in the team over the past 18 months, looking to improve their results and bridge the gap towards the top of the Premier League standings. However, this season things have not been going well for Gerrard and his men, who are currently 16th and obviously too close to the relegation zone. Now they face a crucial period as they prepare to face Fulham away, Brentford at home and Newcastle away in the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, Pochettino has been out of work since he was fired from Paris Saint-Germain in July of this year. He recently turned down an offer from OGC Nice, but at Villa they are hoping that a potential return to the Premier League, where he spent nearly seven years at the helm of Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, would be more tempting for the 50-year-old Argentine tactician.
