Transfers News: Arsenal are reluctant to meet Ramsdale asking for the price

Arsenal have been heavily linked to Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as they look to add coverage and competition for their number 1, Bernd Leno. Recent reports have suggested that the Gunners had two offers for the 23-year-old the Blades turned down, e David Ornstein of The Athletic believes Sheffield is looking for a sum of around £ 30m. He does not feel, however, that Arsenal would gladly go so high.

They are able to do this if the critical moment comes, however, and Ramsdale remains their main focus for goalkeepers.

It is worth mentioning that Arsenal sold Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa last summer for a claimed figure of around £ 16 million and replaced him with Alex Runarsson. Runarsson has so far failed to prove he can trust, while Martinez had a great season at Villa Park and was a hero for Argentina in their recent Copa America triumph. The Gunners turned to Mat Ryan, signing the Australian from Brighton and Hove Albion on loan for the second half of last season, but Ryan has since joined Real Sociedad permanently.
