Tottenham winger Brian Gil returned to Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the season, 18 months after leaving the club.

Gil has struggled for regular playing time since joining Spurs ahead of the 2021–22 season, spending the second half of his last campaign on loan at Valencia, whom he helped reach the Copa del Rey final.

The 21-year-old, who has made four appearances for Spain’s senior team, has played just 148 minutes in four Premier League games for Antonio Conte’s side this season.

Sevilla are 13th in La Liga – just two points behind the bottom three – after a disappointing campaign to date and reportedly lack the clause making Gil’s return permanent.

Jorge Sampaoli’s side have also agreed to a loan deal for midfielder Pape Gueye from Marseille until the end of the season on Monday, as they hope to stay out of the fight for survival.

Meanwhile, Danish international Thomas Delaney has moved from Sevilla to Hoffenheim and left-back Ludwig Augustinsson has moved to Real Mallorca, also on loan until the end of the season.

Sevilla will travel to La Liga-leading Barcelona for their next match on Sunday, recovering a 3-0 Copa del Rey defeat to Osasuna on Saturday, beating Elche 3-0.
