New Year’s resolutions are easy to make, but much harder to keep.
But in order to enjoy prosperity in 2023, it will be vital for some to change their lifestyle in the next 12 months.
This is not the case for everyone and Premier League champions Manchester City will sit comfortably even with the opportunity to catch up in the title race.
However, for those hoping to equal Pep Guardiola’s men, Stats Perform has set a few goals for 2023…
Save more money – Manchester United
The January sales make it hard to stock up at this time of year, and Erik ten Hag has already indicated his desire to see a new striker before the end of the month.
But if United think about past years, they may recognize that simply spending huge sums is not the solution to their problems on the pitch.
In theory, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo left a hole, except that he was not in Ten Hag’s first team anyway. The United manager is better off using Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial than rushing to buy a player who is unlikely to be much better for a lot of money.

Practice more – Chelsea
A cold January provides plenty of reasons not to run, but Chelsea would like to be able to put their key people to work. Instead, they got hurt too often.
N’Golo Kante is out, and Reece James and Ben Chilwell have missed most of the season. James returned this week but lasted just over 50 minutes before suffering another knee injury and Wesley Fofana was also out again.
Chelsea will spend the funds in January, but their Champions League reimbursement hopes will depend on being able to get existing players back in shape.
Learn a New Skill – Darwin Nunes
Liverpool also have persistent injury problems and Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are still out of the game but they should still have more than enough to really aim for a top four finish.
While the signing of Cody Gakpo helps in that regard, Liverpool’s season could be defined by Nunes’ ability to consistently score at this level.
Nunes is one of the most prolific shooters in the Premier League, but he has squandered big chances on numerous occasions. This skill of scoring is not easy to learn, but for that Liverpool need a big signing before the start of the season.

Live life to the fullest – Arsenal
Arsenal fans have been complaining about their team for years: since 2004 they have not had a league title, and since 2016 there is no hope of a title challenge.
They are now at the top of the table ahead of 2023, so it’s time to enjoy it. There is no guarantee that the Gunners will be able to keep City or Newcastle United, but this season has already been remembered.
Even if Mikel Arteta’s men slip away and simply return to the Champions League, fans must recognize this for a successful campaign.
Get Organized – Tottenham
If Spurs’ rivals join Arsenal in Europe’s elite club competition next season, they just have to get more organized, which is not something you will necessarily associate with Antonio Conte’s team.
Tottenham’s biggest problem isn’t the post-Christmas mess, it’s their defence, constantly conceding cheap goals that give Harry Kane and company the chance to climb the mountain.
The quality of Kane, Son Heung Min and the rest ensures that Spurs stay in the game no matter what, but there is too much competition this season for Spurs not to be penalized if they continue their defensive mistakes.

Travel More – Newcastle United
This season, Newcastle turned out to be an unexpected opponent – a contender for what we are for, and they are not yet sure.
But despite all the upbeat talk of a title rise or a Champions League qualification, Newcastle have to win European football now to continue their progress.
While this goal may have seemed optimistic at the start of the season, the Magpies cannot miss out on this team position, they need to travel around Europe to keep Bruno Guimarães and Sven Botman and attract equally interesting talent.
