The absence of Germany at the World Cup … and the bewilderment of the coach

Hansi Flick is preparing to announce Germany’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar on Thursday 10 November. The coach is at a loss as to whom the coach will choose in attack because of the injuries of the forwards of the German national team.

RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner’s ankle injury kept him out of the World Cup, while Wolfsburg striker Lukas Nmech’s knee injury, which kept him out of the World Cup, left the German coach in great disarray.

Germany’s absence from the World Cup

Flick is considering adding a German striker to Qatar’s roster and will likely include Borussia Dortmund’s Yusef Mukoko, who is just 17, and Werder Bremen’s Niklas Volkrug for the World Cup.

Germany, the 2014 World Cup title holder at the expense of Argentina, wants to reconcile its fans after the failure at the last World Cup and elimination from the group stage. Germany’s group includes: Spain, Japan, Costa Rica, Germany will open their matches against Japan on Wednesday, 23 november.
