Edin Terzic called Borussia Dortmund’s 3-3 draw against Stuttgart “cruelly disappointing” as they missed out on a chance to equal Bayern Munich at the Bundesliga summit.
The Black and Yellows looked to join Bayern at the top of the table when Gio Reina scored in injury time in the second half at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
But Silas Katompa Mwumpa equalizing in the 97th minute instead saw them lose two important points in the title race against the 10-man hosts.
This is Dortmund’s last capitulation of the inverted season, and Terzic didn’t hold back in his scathing assessment of their game after the final whistle.
“We missed a huge opportunity as a team,” he told Sky Sport Germany. “This is severely disappointing.
“It’s hard for me to find words (to explain) why this happened.
“We thought that with the defeat at home to Werder Bremen, we had already experienced the worst part of the season.

“But it again exceeds all expectations. We were lucky in the early stages. To be honest, we almost conceded four goals against a short-handed team.”
Dortmund maintained a man advantage for an hour of play after Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos was sacked for a second yellow card in the first half.
Their inability to capitalize on Bayern’s own slip following the home draw against Hoffenheim leaves them two points behind the Bavarian giants in the Bundesliga title race with six games to go.
Dortmund will host Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
