Ten Hag Praises Manchester United’s Character After Real Betis Defeat

Erik ten Hag hailed Manchester United’s character after a 4-1 win over Real Betis that got his team back on track.

Undeterred by a humiliating result against Liverpool on Sunday, United bounced back at Old Trafford to take command in the Europa League round of 16.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony, Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst scored in a decisive win that helped advance to the quarter-finals and lifted the club’s morale.

Given the pre-game pressure, Ten Hag believes the game once again showed that a team can respond to setbacks.

“I think we played a very good game. By the break we should have been leading 3-0, but it was 1-1, we made one mistake and were punished for it, but I think we played well,” he told BT Sport.

“We scored good goals, it was a good performance, it gave something to the fans and they gave something back to us too, they were there for us and we are very grateful after Sunday.

“We had a good attitude from the start, we were up front and had good ball possession, found a substitute in midfield and made good transitions, had good runs and created a lot of chances, so we are happy. Today.

“You always have to see how a team reacts to failure and this is not the first time this season, I think it’s been five or six times, we can reboot, we can recover, this team has character.”
