Market: Serou Guirassi will score at any time
Chances: 19/20 @ Pribet
Sensing a chance to lay down another Bundesliga marker on Friday evening, Stuttgart will welcome Darmstadt to the MHPArena.
Starting with the hosts, while Stuttgart may have found themselves in the middle of a major relegation problem last season, the Rothen have roared back in some style since the opening of the 2023/24 campaign. Celebrating their return from the September break with a 3-1 win over Mainz last weekend, it appears that spirits are at a high in Sebastian Heneb’s camp. Ahead of the two-week break earlier this month, delivering another stellar performance as they thrashed Freiburg 5-0, the former Hoffenheim boss has seen his side win three of their first four Bundesliga matches. Looking to set another marker on Friday night, Stuttgart will call on their attacking talisman to spearhead the attack here. Serou Guirassi, who scored a remarkable hat-trick away at Mainz last weekend, has scored eight goals in just his first four Bundesliga appearances. In the midst of a record-breaking purple match, the 27-year-old is hoping to make another statement here.
As for the visitors, while Darmstadt may have shocked many by securing a return to the Bundesliga this season, the Lilies will know they face a real uphill battle this time around. Despite returning from the September international break with a successful 3-3 draw at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach, this is the only point Thorsten Lieberknecht’s side have collected from their first four top-flight matches. Ahead of the two-week break with a routine 5-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, the Hesse side have certainly long since gained a reputation for their obvious defensive problems. Including a 4-1 home defeat to Union Berlin in August, Darmstadt have scored a staggering 13 goals in their first four Bundesliga matches. With an extremely unreliable defense, Lieberknecht’s men will have to prepare for a real test on Friday evening.
