Sport Republic Implements Changes as CEO Martin Semmens Departs from Southampton

Southampton owners have announced a reshuffle at board level following their relegation from the Premier League.

Martin Semmens stepped down from his position as CEO and Sport Republic, the majority shareholder of St Mary’s, assumed full operational control of the club.

Serbian businessman Dragan Solak has been named chairman of the Sport Republic, but Rasmus Ankersen will remain the company’s CEO and Henrik Kraft will remain chairman of the club.

The Saints are still looking for a new manager and Swansea leader Russell Martin is reportedly the frontrunner.

The statement said: “This is the first of many changes we will be making to ensure the success of the club.

“Our new director of football, Jason Wilcox, will be reviewing the football department and in the coming weeks we will announce the club’s squad for next season.

“By taking these steps now, we are laying the groundwork for our goal of getting Southampton back into the Premier League as soon as possible.”
