Soccer News: UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings against the FA for the Euro 2020 final

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against the English Football Association following an investigation into the chaotic scenes that marked the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Last month, UEFA confirmed that an investigation had been launched into “events involving fans that took place in and around the stadium”.

An ethics and disciplinary inspector was appointed by UEFA to investigate the events that took place around the 1-1 between England and Italy, which prevailed on penalties.

And a brief statement released on Tuesday confirmed that proceedings have been opened against the FA for a “potential violation of Article 16 (2) (h) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations due to lack of order or discipline on the part of its supporters.”

The damage was caused before the match as a number of fans were seen colliding with security as they attempted to enter the North London stadium without tickets.

The FA launched its own independent review of what it described as “shameful scenes”.

UEFA had already fined the FA € 30,000 (£ 25,600) for three infractions resulting from England’s semi-final victory over Denmark, which saw a laser pointer aimed at Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel before a penalty for the hosts .
