Tottenham Hotspur wanted £ 40 million for Aston Villa and Everton target Harry Winks in the summer transfer window, according to Times. Everton and Villa wanted to sign Winks from Premier League rivals Spurs, but the North London club’s insistence on asking for £ 40m put off both the Villans and the Toffees.

Winks himself did not want to leave Spurs and was eager to stay in the Premier League and re-established himself in the first team. The 25-year-old has played nine games as a starter and six appearances as a substitute in the Premier League last season. The England international also scored a goal and assisted in eight Europa League matches for Spurs in 2020-21.

So far this season, Winks has made a starter and substitute appearance in the Premier League for Spurs.
