Soccer News: Silva focused on Portugal’s World Cup squad after furious sacking Ronaldo

Bernardo Silva remains uninterested in Cristiano Ronaldo’s scathing Manchester United interview as Portugal look to focus on the World Cup.

Portugal captain Ronaldo caused a stir this week in an extensive interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV in which he criticized United, senior figures at the club and current manager Erik ten Hag.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner said he feels “betrayed” by United, who he says has made “zero progress” since Alex Ferguson left Old Trafford in 2013.

Portugal showed no signs of distraction after a 4-0 friendly win over Nigeria in their only warm-up ahead of the World Cup on Thursday, and Silva says he’s not interested in what’s going on with Ronaldo at United.

“The news coming from England has nothing to do with Portugal,” the Manchester City midfielder said on Saturday.

“It concerns him, I am not obliged to comment, it has nothing to do with me. It’s not about Selesao, it’s about Cristiano.

“It’s still for Cristiano. I am not a Manchester United player. If I were, I would not answer you. This is a competitive club. I have nothing to do with this.

“Portugal and I are focused on our matches, we are not focused on Cristiano’s situation with his club. Therefore, I will answer questions about the World Cup and our team.”
