Soccer News: Opening ceremony launches Qatar 2022

    South Korean pop sensation Jungkook celebrated the glitzy opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which finally kicked off on Sunday.

    The ceremony, which preceded the opening game between the hosts and Ecuador, featured a traditional mix of local and international artists showcasing the best of Qatar, all narrated in the soothing voice of American actor Morgan Freeman.

    It began with a montage of Qatar on land and sea before Freeman and local celebrity Ghanim Al Muftah performed “Know Each Other” along with several camels.

    This was followed by a dance featuring local volunteers and professional artists, after which the tournament mascot Laib was introduced along with its predecessors from previous tournaments.

    Jungkook of South Korean boy band BTS performed Qatar’s official 2022 single titled Dreamers with typical gusto along with local singer Fahad Al Qubaisi and the ceremony ended with a message from Sheikh Tamim.
