Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann felt his team “should have scored more” despite a runaway 5–2 away win against Augsburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.
Bayern were nine minutes behind after Mads Pedersen put the hosts ahead, but a brace from Erik Maxim Choupo-Moting and a smart finish from Joshua Kimmich gave the Bundesliga champions a 3-1 lead.
A failed own goal by Dayot Upamecano gave Augsburg hope for a comeback, but Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davis scored late to secure Bayern’s entry into the third round of a tournament in which they won 20 times, 14 more than any other side.
Despite five goals against Augsburg, Nagelsmann wanted his team to be even more ruthless. He told ZDF: “This is a classic cup game.
“The team created enough chances to make the game cleaner, but unfortunately we missed.
“There were a lot of situations in which we should have scored more goals.”
