Soccer News: ‘Let him go’ – Manchester United boss Ten Hag should field Ronaldo or let him go, says Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand has said Erik ten Hag should turn down Cristiano Ronaldo in January if the Portugal striker is not in his plans for Manchester United.

According to former United captain Ferdinand, Ronaldo’s status means that even as a side figure in the first team, his presence will go a long way.

Ferdinand was reacting to Ronaldo leaving the United bench early Wednesday morning and heading into the tunnel before the end of the game against Tottenham.

It was a matter that Ten Hag refused to address after beating Old Trafford 2-0 in the Premier League, saying the matter should be settled on Thursday. The Athletic reported that Ronaldo left the stadium shortly after leaving the field.

Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel FIVE: “My only thought might be that Cristiano is being saved for the weekend against Chelsea.

“That’s the only way I see it logically that he didn’t play today. I think Ronaldo will naturally be furious about it. I didn’t expect anything else from him.”

Ferdinand urged manager Ten Hag to think carefully about how he would handle Ronaldo’s situation, given the attention being paid to the 37-year-old five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
