Antonio Conte allayed fears Richarlison would miss the World Cup but confirmed he would not be available for Tottenham’s game against Manchester United on Wednesday.
Richarlison suffered a calf injury in Spurs’ 2–0 win over his former side Everton and was taken off the field in the 52nd minute before being seen later on crutches, raising fears that he could collide with the race on time to be ready for Brazil’s first World Cup match against Serbia on 24 November.
In a tearful interview after the game, Richarlison told ESPN Brazil, “It’s hard to say because this is close to realizing my dream.”
But when asked if Richarlison could miss the World Cup, Conte was optimistic.
“Richarlison’s injury, he [having] scan and then we’ll see how long it takes him to recover,” Conte told reporters. “But he’s definitely not available against United.
“I can confirm that the player has absolutely no risk of not playing in the World Cup.”

Conte was unsure if Richarlison striker Dejan Kulusevski would be able to come into Wednesday’s game at Old Trafford after the Swedish international missed the Everton game with a hamstring injury.
“Kulusevski is working, we’ll see,” Conte added. “We have to spend with him day after day.
“The medical department is working hard to try and get him back but we don’t know anything about the game against United.
