Soccer News: Bright gives Chelsea a start in the Women’s Champions League

Chelsea kicked off their Women’s Champions League campaign with Thursday’s win against last season’s semi-finalists Paris Saint-Germain.

The Blues, under the leadership of Denise Reddy, with Emma Hayes absent for health reasons, beat the two-time finalists at Stade Jean Bouin thanks to a first-half volley from Millie Bright to win 1-0.

The Englishman closed Erin Cuthbert’s cross with an impressive touch in less than half an hour and then put on an impressive defensive display to upset the hosts in Group A.

They were joined by Real Madrid in the victory as the Spanish team scored a comfortable 2-0 away win against Albanian team Vllaznia thanks to goals from Esther Gonzalez and Olga Carmona.
