Tottenham Hotspur signed an agreement with Atalanta to sign Cristian Romero in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports. It is reported that Premier League club Tottenham will pay Italian club Atalanta £ 42.7 million (€ 50 million) plus bonuses for the 23-year-old Argentine international.
Romero, who won the Copa America with Argentina this summer, will fly to London in the next 24 hours to complete the move to Spurs. The young defender will then agree on personal terms before writing down a five-year contract.
The Argentine is one of the best central defenders in Serie A and helped Atalanta finish third in the standings last season. Romero has made 42 appearances in all competitions for the Italian club, which hires Merih Demiral to replace the Argentine.
