Serie-A News: Sampdoria-Inter 2-2: Inzaghi denied in a historic match

Inter have been reassembled twice as Simone Inzaghi’s 200th Serie A game as coach ended in a frustrating 2-2 draw at Sampdoria.

Federico Dimarco’s first Inter goal from an unstoppable free-kick was canceled when Edin Dzeko put Maya Yoshida’s shot behind his goalkeeper at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

A superb volley by Lautaro Martinez only brings the lead back to an equally brilliant shot by Tommaso Augello to restore parity once again.

It means the champions have seven points out of nine in their first three games and will be looking to regroup in the Champions League and a mouthwatering clash with Real Madrid.

Inter had a sloppy start and a bad elimination of Dimarco led to a chain of events that saw Morten Thorsby uselessly climb over the top.

Dimarco recovered after 18 minutes with a poisonous free-kick inside D that identified the top left corner.

Sampdoria equalized when Yoshida’s shot was deflected at home by Dzeko after Inter failed to clear the lines in a corner.

Inter were leading at half-time when Hakan Calhanoglu dispossessed Mikkel Damsgaard and fed Nicolo Barella, whose sublime cross was cleverly aimed on the fly by Martinez.

But they were surprised again when Bartosz Bereszynski’s cross was met with a volley from the other full-back Augello.

Shortly thereafter, Ivan Perisic had a great chance to shoot or find Dzeko, but he actually did neither when he shot expensive through the goal, while Calhanoglu punched wide from 20 yards with a lot of goals to aim for.

Damsgaard is close to the advantage of Sampdoria, only Danilo D’Ambrosio clears the line and saves Inter.
