Serie-A News: Rabiot hopes World Cup will decide his future amid Juventus uncertainty

Adrien Rabiot is hopeful that an impressive World Cup campaign with France will help him secure a contract with Juventus or elsewhere before his contract with the Bianconeri expires next year.

After being left out of Didier Deschamps’ side when France won their second World Cup in 2018, Rabiot could make his tournament debut on Tuesday in the Group D opener against Australia.

With his contract with Juventus expiring at the end of this season, Rabiot has been closely linked with a move to Manchester United in the latest transfer window.

The midfielder is likely to feature regularly in Qatar after Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante were ruled out of the tournament and he is looking to impress Juventus or any potential fans with his performances.

“I’m interested in being here and probably in the starting XI. I would rather be in this position in 2022 than four years ago,” Rabiot said on Friday.

“This is a chance to be in the starting lineup of such a competition. I don’t know if this is a turning point, but it might help me.

“Under the contract, I have the last year at Juventus. It might help me in the future.”

The absence of Pogba, who scored in the 2018 World Cup final against Croatia, was a major blow to Les Bleus hopes of becoming the first team to retain the trophy since Brazil in 1962.

Rabiot says he was advised by his Bianconeri teammate to take on the same leadership role in his country that he has in Turin.

“We see each other every day. We talked a lot about competition,” added Rabiot. Did he give me any advice? Not necessary.

“He encouraged us and said he would follow us. He asked me to pull this team and this environment like I do at Juventus.
