Serie-A News: Lazio look to extend Milinkovic and Savic’s contract as president, defending Juventus amid Agnelli scandal

Lazio are hoping they can convince Sergei Milinkovic-Savic to renew in Serie A, says president Claudio Lotito.

The Biancocelesti boss also commented on the implications of Andrea Agnelli’s departure from Juventus, saying the club is “not evil”.

Milinkovic-Savic, who joined Lazio from Genk in 2015, has been one of the team’s most important players over the years and has been named their Player of the Season in both of their last two campaigns.

Speaking at the Colalucci Awards, Lotito bolstered hope that the Serbian national team, currently under contract until 2024, will remain in Rome, highlighting that he is the cornerstone of their squad under Maurizio Sarri.

“From a technical point of view, Lazio are interested in extending him because he is a great player, a player that the club is betting on,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lotito spoke about Juventus and Agnelli, as well as the resignation of the former president of the Bianconceri – along with the resignation of his entire board – amid financial investigations that have become the main topic of Italian football.

However, instead of criticizing them, the 65-year-old suggested that the club had become a scapegoat for off-field affairs.

“Today everyone speaks badly about Juventus, but they have contributed to the life of Italian football,” he added.

“To say that Juventus is the evil of Italian football is unfair. Today, everyone is trying their best to create dissent against Juventus.
