Serie-A News: Inter 2-2 Atalanta: Late Piccoli’s goal canceled after Dimarco misses the penalty in the thriller

Roberto Piccoli disallowed a late goal after Federico Dimarco missed a penalty in the dramatic finale of a Serie A 2-2 thriller between Inter and Atalanta at San Siro.

Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring for the champions in a pulsating game, but goals from Ruslan Malinovskyi and Rafael Toloi gave Atalanta a well-deserved half-time lead.

Malinovskyi also hit the post before Inter recovered and Edin Dzeko equalized with just under 20 minutes to play thanks to his fifth goal in six Serie A games for the club.

However, there was much more drama to come, though, when Dimarco hit the crossbar from the spot three minutes into regulation time and Piccoli then saw what Atalanta thought was a scored winner because the ball had come out in the corner in the ‘building- on.

A draw leaves Inter in third place, two points behind leaders AC Milan, and with a streak of 18 consecutive league victories at the end.
