According to a recent report from ESPN, Sergio Romero is attracting the attention of Chelsea and Juventus in the wake of his exit from Manchester United.
The veteran goalkeeper always seemed destined to leave Old Trafford after slipping even further down the hierarchy in recent months. While many think it doesn’t have much to do with his abilities, others wonder whether or not he’s destined to serve as a backup goalkeeper for the rest of his days.
Based on the two clubs that are in the mix, it certainly seems likely that Romero will be a reserve signing, but both could certainly do a lot worse.
We all know that many goalkeepers can go on into their 40s and, in some cases, they can even get better as the years go by. Romero needs more opportunities in the first team for this to become a reality, but at 34 he is well positioned for the next chapter of his career.
