Serie-A News: Brekalo close to moving from Wolfsburg to Monza

According to Fabrizio Romano, Josip Brekalo is set to leave Wolfsburg in January and negotiations with Monza over his proposed move to Italy are progressing at all levels; between the two clubs, as well as between the Serie A team and the players’ camp.

Having been promoted to Italy’s top flight at the end of last season, Monza are obviously doing their best to keep that status for as long as possible. At the moment they are doing very well in this aspect, they are in 14th place with nine points and three teams split between them and Cremonese who lead the relegation zone.

Brekalo, 24, is an attacking player who likes to play on the left flank, but he can also work well on the right flank and through the center if necessary. Having played 33 caps for Croatia so far, he was not included in his country’s squad for the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.

Brekalo’s contract with Wolfsburg expires at the end of the season, and Monza are clearly trying to close a deal as early as possible to prevent any potential competition.
