Hoping to be disappointed away this weekend and win back-to-back Serie A victories, Monza will travel to the Mapei Stadium on Friday night when they face Sassuolo.
Starting with the hosts, although Sassuolo could have picked up a famous 1-0 home win over Juventus last month, Alessio Dionisi’s side have continued to struggle with their stability. The Neroverdi, who were last seen away in a sharp 4-2 defeat to Italian giants Sassuolo, have won just a couple of their last eight matches in the top flight. With their recent hesitation highlighted by a 3-0 draw at the hands of Salernitana, Sassuolo has essentially been in limbo. However, while Dionysi’s men may face a serious top 10 fight, they will be happy to return to the Mapei Stadium on Friday night. Including a 3-2 victory over Cremonese before the March international break, it should be noted that Neroverdi are unbeaten in each of their last six fights in front of their fans – a streak that dates back to February 17th.
As for the guests, although Monza could only return to Serie A this season, the Biancorossi have gained a number of fans. Raffaele Palladino’s team, last seen putting on a brilliant display as they delivered a famous 2-0 home win over newly crowned champions Napoli, are at the very center of what has become a real purple spot. Now undefeated in each of their last seven home games in a row – a streak that started all the way up to April 2 – the Lombard team has also racked up some heavy scalps. In addition to breaking through to a dynamic 3-2 win over Fiorentina last month, Monza also stunned former champions Inter on 15 April. Soaring into the top half, Palladino’s team should smell the chance for another upset on Friday night. We expect both teams to score goals this weekend.
