Salihamidzic: Kane Deal Not Tied to Bavaria’s Choupo-Moting Renewal

Eric Choupo-Moting’s contract extension with Bayern Munich will not affect the potential transfer of Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.

It was a message from Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic after Cameroonian international Choupo-Moting signed on Friday a new deal until June 2024.

The Bundesliga champions have been repeatedly linked with the move of Tottenham striker Kane after Robert Lewandowski lost to Barcelona.

Sadio Mane arrived from Liverpool ahead of the 2022/23 season, but Choupo-Moting remains the only frontman for the Bavarian giants.

The 33-year-old has scored 10 goals in 17 league appearances this season and Salihamidzic is keen to see Choupo-Moting continue to develop as he hasn’t revealed much about a potential move for England captain Kane.

“We are happy to have Choupo. I can’t say yet what will happen in the summer,” he told Sky Sport Germany.

When pressed that a contract extension with Choupo-Moting would affect the deal with Kane, Salihamidzic added: “Nothing, that’s nonsense. This is not our concern at all.

“First, we expanded Choupo. I hope he’s the same, keep up the good work, keep scoring and we’ll see.”

Bayern are top of the Bundesliga after 23 games, ahead of Borussia Dortmund on goal difference after Julian Nagelsmann’s 2-1 win over Stuttgart on Saturday.
