    Russian Zenit and Turkish Fenerbahce Join Forces for Charity Match to Aid Earthquake Victims

    The Russian football team Zenit-Petersburg held a charity match against Turkish Fenerbahce (2:2) on Thursday evening to help victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

    The goals of the Russian national team were scored by the Brazilians Malcolm and Clodinho in two minutes (21, 42) from the penalty spot, respectively.

    And the hosts’ goals were scored by Mert Hakan Yandash and Bora Aydinlik in two minutes (7, 69), respectively.

    Italian striker Joao Pedro missed a penalty in the 34th minute of the first half of the match, which took place at the Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu stadium in Istanbul, and the proceeds went to help victims of the earthquake in Turkey.

    And clashes broke out between the fans of the two teams at the end of the first half of the match, although it was of a charitable nature, after the fans of the St. Petersburg “Zenith” chanted on behalf of Russia.

    And the St. Petersburg club Zenit issued a statement about the assignee of the incident, which says: “Active Zenit fans who wanted to support the team were centrally withdrawn by the organizers of the match to a separate wing, and for some reason a group of them penetrated one of the stands Fenerbahce.     The club explained: “It is currently in close contact to ensure that the match ends without further incident and our fans are now accommodated in the away stands.”
