Real Madrid Responds to Laporta’s Accusations of Being a ‘Regime Club’ with a Strong Comeback Against Barcelona

Real Madrid have targeted rivals Barcelona following Joan Laporta’s accusations of a “regime club” with a four and a half minute video.

Barcelona president Laporta came to his club’s defense at a press conference on Monday amid allegations of payments to José María Enriquez Negreira, the former vice president of the referees’ technical committee.

The blue garnets are under investigation by UEFA, with Spanish prosecutors bringing charges of alleged corruption. Barça are accused of paying more than 7 million euros to a company owned by Negreira.

Laporta decided to turn Madrid’s attention, saying his club had no basis for a response, suggesting that Real Madrid “historically and currently” has been favored by arbitration awards, linking him to former Spanish dictator Francisco Franco.

This prompted los blancos to react with an unusual and lengthy video that aired on social media and Real Madrid TV detailing Barcelona’s ties to Franco.

The video originally asked the question, “Who is the regime team?” in a clear response to Laporta’s comments before drafting his case.

The Camp Nou was inaugurated by Franco’s Minister General José Solis Ruiz, the video says.

Barcelona made Franco an honorary member in 1965 … awarded him three times.”

The video also notes Barcelona’s success over Madrid during Franco’s early era, from 1939 until his death in 1975, and how his administration saved the club from bankruptcy three times.
