According to Spanish outlet Relevo, as Fabrizio Romano later confirmed, Marco Asensio is likely to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season as a free agent. The Spaniard has rejected the club’s offer for a new contract, his current one expiring next month. Agent Jorge Mendez is minding his own business and several Premier League clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, have been briefed on developments.
Real Madrid originally signed Asensio from Mallorca in 2015, but he started playing for Los Blancos in 2016 after spending a year on loan at Espanyol. Since then, the 27-year-old has made a total of 285 appearances in the famous white shirt, scoring 65 goals and 32 assists, but his place on the right attacking flank has mostly been taken by Rodrigo Goes under Carlo Ancelotti. Asensio has only started 15 of the 36 La Liga matches played so far this season as Real Madrid lost the title to rivals Barcelona.
In the past, Asensio has often been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal.
