Putin grants Russian citizenship to Brazilian duo Malcolm and Claudinho

    Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree on granting Russian citizenship to the duet of the St. Petersburg football club “Zenith” as part of the Brazilian star Malcolm and compatriot Claudinho.

    Earlier, the Russian Football Union told Match TV that there is a theoretical possibility that the Brazilian duo could play for the Russian national team in the future.

    Malcolm moved to Zenit in 2019 from Barcelona after spending one season at the Catalan club (2018–2019).

    The 25-year-old winger has scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in 23 games this season.

    As for the 26-year-old midfielder Claudinho, he played 19 matches for Zenit, scoring three goals and giving eight assists.
