Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says he wants to see Ruben Loftus-Cheek work 150% with the Stamford Bridge midfielder’s long-term prospects uncertain.
Loftus-Cheek has been linked to a move away from the Premier League club, with Lazio reportedly among those interested in getting his signature.
The England international, who has been with Chelsea since the age of eight, spent last season on loan at Fulham, making 32 appearances in all competitions.
After replacing Frank Lampard in January, the preseason offered Tuchel his first opportunity to work with the 25-year-old, who has so far played in friendlies against Bournemouth and Arsenal.
While pleased with Loftus-Cheek’s current levels of performance, the German is hoping the player can do even more as he tries to push his case for regular first team action.
“It’s too early to judge Ruben,” Tuchel said. “He has everything in his hands and it’s up to him to decide his future like any player.
“It has to go 150 percent because 100 percent is not enough.

“In general I am happy and that is why he plays, he deserves to play at this point of preparation.
“But I think it can do even more; may show up more. He can show more physical ability and drive more with the ball.
“I am never satisfied with him. I have a feeling we have to push it to the absolute limit.
“Ruben needs to show everything now in a few weeks, if that’s possible.”
Reigning Champions League winners Chelsea will face Tottenham in their final pre-season match on Wednesday, before taking on Europa League champions Villarreal in the Super Cup the following week.
Their Premier League campaigns begin at home against Crystal Palace on 14 August.
