Premier League News: Manchester United 1-1 Everton: three things we have learned

The final series of Premier League matches before the national break is well underway with the first match of the lotto taking place yesterday at the kick-off at Old Trafford. Manchester United and Everton played the last in a long series of matches between the two top-flight supporters and eventually split the points after the Toffees managed to clear Anthony Martial’s first half with a well-taken shot of Andros Townsend.

Behind the curtain, however, there seems to be more to this result than initially appears.

Trouble at Old Trafford

Beaten by Aston Villa, eliminated from the League Cup by West Ham, equalized by Everton, no clean sheets at home in the league since March. There are many reasons to be concerned if you are a Manchester United fan, especially when you take a look at their home form above all else. They seem to be unable to move forward and after attempting to resolve their defensive issues over the summer, you should think there will be those who will be wondering what the next step in the transfer market will be.

Everton point deserved

Everton were consistent, had the best of chances, forced United to turn back and didn’t crumble under the pressure of the game which adds to a pretty solid day in the office for Rafa Benitez and his team. Many people raised their eyebrows when they heard he would take the lead, but we think no one is laughing now. The Toffees are really looking for a spot in the top six this season and we think they have the squad to do so.

Questions for Ole

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had a few years to work with this team now and in that time has definitely improved their overall quality, but the fact that United have not been able to win a trophy during that time raises some serious alarm bells. . From his tactical style to some of the choices he makes when he’s on the sidelines, there are sure to be plenty of people out there wondering if his time at Old Trafford should end.

They could give it to them until after the national break, given the difficulty of the upcoming matches, but if they come out of those matches looking tired, they may have to pull the trigger.
