Premier League News: Gakpo regrets failed move to Manchester United

PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo has been linked with Manchester United this summer. When it became clear that he would not go to Old Trafford, there were reports of interest in his services from clubs such as Leeds United and Southampton, but, in the end, he remained in place.

Speaking in a recent interview with Tom Allnutt of TimeGakpo has practically confirmed all of these stories, but he only seems to regret not joining United.

The 23-year-old says he spoke to United boss Erik ten Hag and was very close to making the switch, but an agreement was never reached. He was then apparently given the choice between Leeds and Southampton and opted to stay at PSV instead.

United are reportedly still interested in signing Gakpo, who has 13 goals and 11 assists in 18 appearances in all competitions this season, but the Netherlands contract remains under just under four years. Other than that, his great performances are sure to draw more attention as the next summer window approaches.
