Chelsea are considering a free transfer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, despite having 12 months left on his contract, according to The Daily Telegraph.
After spending four years at Arsenal, the Gabonese striker left London in January 2022 for Barcelona to return to the UK capital to sign a two-year deal with Chelsea next summer. However, he now appears to be seen as redundant again and as Chelsea look to cut back on their overcrowded squad, he could return to Barcelona. Apparently, the Catalan club is considering returning him to the Camp Nou in order to offer Robert Lewandowski a worthy cover in advance.
Since signing for Chelsea, the 33-year-old has scored just three goals and provided one assist in 21 appearances in all competitions for the London Blues. He seemed out of place in Graham Potter’s plans, but Frank Lampard gave him another chance. Unfortunately, from their point of view, Chelsea have lost all six matches they have played under Lampard.
