Veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos announced his retirement from the national team on Thursday after a busy career.
Ramos wrote on his Twitter account: “I will continue to support my country from home with the passion of an outstanding person who was able to proudly present 180 matches. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

The veteran defender has made 180 international appearances for Spain, the last of which was in March last year.
Ramos, 36, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain, is regarded as one of the most outstanding players in the history of Spanish football and one of the Spanish national team’s golden generation of winning two victories in a row. European Championships in 2008 and 2012, including the 2010 World Championship title.
