Newcastle and Everton have reached an agreement with Everton over the proposed transfer of Anthony Gordon and the young striker is set to undergo a medical before moving to St James’ Park. The fee that Magpies will pay for his services is set at £40 million.
Newcastle, like Chelsea, have reportedly been trying to sign Gordon for a while, but Everton have held firm so far, believing the starlet to be a vital tool in their bid to turn a disappointing season as soon as possible. However, Frank Lampard has now been sacked and former Burnley boss Sean Dyche is reportedly the top choice to replace him at Goodison’s dugout, with the team sitting second from the wrong end of the table.
And while Chelsea have since turned to other places to bolster their attacking ranks, Newcastle have apparently continued their pursuit of Gordon and it looks like they have finally found their man.
