Napoli intend to sign Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo after the successful completion of transfer talks between the two clubs, according to Fabrizio Romano. The fee the Serie A champions will pay for the young midfielder’s services is believed to be set at €36m including bonuses.
A number of top clubs across Europe have been linked to Gabry in the past, not least in England where clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea were said to be following him and considering withdrawing him to the Premier League. However, no concrete steps seem to have been taken to make this happen and Napoli clearly took advantage of the situation.
The highly ranked 21-year-old playmaker was promoted to the top ranks at Celta just last summer and has made a total of 39 appearances for the club in 2022/23, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists. He also had a 17-minute cameo in a 0-2 loss to Osasuna in the first leg of the current La Liga campaign last week.
